Two people escaped serious injury in a crash in Southern Pines Saturday morning. The single-vehicle accident occurred at the northbound on-ramp at Pennsylvania and U.S. Highway 1 at 6:20 a.m.
A Toyota Camry was heading northbound on U.S. 1 when the female driver lost control and slammed into the side of the on-ramp. The impact sent the car up the embankment where it came to a stop. The car had extensive front end damage.
Both occupants were out of the vehicle when EMS arrived on the scene. The female and her male passenger were evaluated by EMS but refused transport to the hospital.
Southern Pines Police are investigating the cause of the accident and charges are pending.
Responding to the scene were Southern Pines Fire & Rescue, Moore County EMS, and Southern Pines Police Department.
