Police were called to a shooting in Cameron Saturday afternoon. The shooting took place around 1 p.m. on Helen Lane off of Atkins Road.
Two people were airlifted to an area trauma center with a male victim suffering a gunshot wound to the head and a female suffering a gunshot wound to the neck. One of the victims is in critical condition.

“This was not a random act of violence, as it is believed that all parties involved were of at least minimal acquaintance,” said Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields.
The suspects fled the scene in a vehicle, but were apprehended a short time later.
“Two persons of interest have been identified and are in custody at this time,” said Fields. “The crime scene is still currently active, and multiple witnesses are being interviewed to hopefully shed some light on what led to the shooting. “
The victims’ identities have not been released.
