In a time where health care patients can often feel unheard, the newly opened VitaCore aims to provide Sandhills citizens with personalized, professional care. Founded earlier this year by Cat Stanley, RDMS, and Dr. Phillip Mondi, MD, VitaCore aims to bridge the gap between traditional and functional medicine.
With a focus on personalized care and addressing underlying health concerns, VitaCore is quickly making a name in Moore County’s wellness scene. Cat previously owned and operated Little Bo Peep Diagnostic in Southern Pines for several years before taking a very personal step into functional medicine.
Cat’s drive to open VitaCore in Southern Pines stemmed from her own experience with autoimmune disorders and inflammation, where she often felt her symptoms were not fully addressed by traditional health care approaches.
“I ventured out into functional medicine because I found that I wasn’t getting heard or the care that I needed from my traditional medical physicians,” explained Cat. “I was suffering for so long with autoimmune disorders, pain, and inflammation, and could never get good relief until I started finding the knowledge for myself.”
Realizing the profound difference that personalized care had on her health, Cat co-founded the practice with Dr. Phillip Mondi, a physician with nearly three decades of experience accrued at FirstHealth and Pinehurst Medical. Together, they aim to offer patients a more tailored, whole-person approach to health.
“We treat the whole person,” said Cat. “Each patient’s care plan is based not only on their lab results but also on how they’re feeling because labs don’t always tell the full story. We want people to feel their best, and for many, that means looking beyond standard treatments.”
One of VitaCore’s distinguishing features is its in-house medical doctor, certified in bioidentical hormone therapy and peptide therapy, options that Cat says are rare in the Sandhills. Bioidentical hormone therapy is especially beneficial for those experiencing hormonal imbalances, while peptide therapy, which Cat describes as an “up-and-coming” treatment, supports antiaging, muscle recovery, and skin health with minimal to no side effects.
Additionally, VitaCore offers in-house labs, IV therapy, weight-loss management with treatments including semaglutide and tirzepatide, adrenal fatigue care, thyroid optimization, and heavy metal detoxification. Their comprehensive services address not just the symptoms but the root causes of health issues, with the goal of restoring function and vitality.
“We’re here to make functional medicine affordable and accessible to everyone,” Cat said, noting that the clinic has already served nearly 80 patients in its first four months.
Dr. Mondi describes VitaCore’s mission as a “whole-health approach to prevention, health, and well-being.” He stresses the importance of addressing even minor symptoms early, which could indicate more serious health concerns.
Peptide therapy, one of VitaCore’s signature offerings, serves as a holistic treatment option, known to improve bone health, energy levels, and skin elasticity while also reducing fat and enhancing muscle recovery. Vitacore offers specialized peptides for both men and women, and Cat encourages potential patients to review their complete offerings.
Looking ahead, VitaCore plans to expand its services to include a health and wellness coach, a nurse practitioner, and an educational podcast to share insights on health and wellness.
