Moore County is under a Winter Weather Advisory beginning 10 a.m. Thursday through 7 a.m. Friday, according to the U.S. National Weather Service.

Rain is expected for Moore County before 3 p.m. Thursday. Meteorologists say it will then turn into sleet with a “total daytime sleet accumulation of less than one inch possible.”

Thursday evening’s forecast is calling for all snow after 7 p.m. with “snow and sleet accumulation of around an inch possible” for the Southern end of the county to 3 miles north of Whispering Pines. The Northern end can see more accumulation.

Friday will see sunny skies with a high near 39 degrees, and Friday evening will be clear with a low of 22 degrees.

Saturday and Sunday’s temperatures will be high near 53 degrees.

Moore County Schools announced schools will be closed Friday for all students, and staff will operate on a two-hour delay.
