Kalyn Burton, 31, of Fayetteville, is facing several charges, announced the Aberdeen Police Department.
On July 17, Aberdeen officers responded to the area of Highway 15-501 N and U.S. 1, in reference to a vehicle reportedly hitting multiple vehicles before fleeing the area.
“Upon arrival, officers located the suspect vehicle, began to pursue it, and were able to stop the vehicle at which point Burton was identified as the driver,” said the Aberdeen Police Department in a press release on Sept. 16. “Burton then fled again, but was later located and detained in the vehicle on Hwy 211 near Indiana Ave.”
Burton was charged on the scene for felony fleeing to elude with a motor vehicle, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana paraphernalia, resisting a public officer, center turn violation, and driving left of center. In addition, a white powdery substance was located inside the vehicle at the time it was impounded for the driving offenses.
On Aug. 6, the suspected narcotics were submitted to the NC State Crime Lab for testing, and on Sept. 8, the results came back and confirmed the white powdery substance was cocaine.
On Sept. 10, officers obtained warrants for Burton for felony possession of cocaine and driving while impaired. Attempts were made to serve Burton, but she was not located in Moore County.
On Sept. 15, Burton was located in Cumberland County by the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office and taken before a Cumberland County magistrate, where she was not given a bond.
