Ruth H. Falcone, 94, of Pinehurst, passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Penick Village. Ruth was born in Rockaway Beach, NY and was the daughter of Fred and Anna Guterding.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; sisters Lillian and Mildred, and brothers Fred and Willie, who was killed in Germany in WWII. Ruth passed away on what would have been her husband’s 100th birthday.

Ruth is survived by her seven children: Philip Pumilia (Andrea), Tony Pumilia (Cookie), Judith DeFranco (Dennis), Richard Falcone (Cathy Jo), JoAnn Ryan (Sam), Carol Falcone, and Ron Falcone (Wendy), several grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, and her beloved cat, Figaro.

Ruth and Jack owned and operated a small grocery store in Rockaway Beach. After they sold the store, Ruth was a stay-at-home Mom, always focused on helping her kids do well in school. She loved baseball; she enjoyed the NY Mets but loved the Yankees. After her husband’s death in 1993, Ruth lived with her daughter, JoAnn, and son-in-law, Sam, in Dix Hills, NY. The family relocated to Pinehurst in 2007 where she lived until she moved to Penick Village in 2016.

The family wishes to express our sincere thanks to the nurses and caregivers at Penick Village Skilled Nursing and a special thank you to Mom’s caregivers Shirley, Roslyn, Sandra and Lorraine for your wonderful care over the years.

Online condolences may be made at www.bolesfuneralhome.com. A private service for the family is being held in New York.

Mrs. Falcone’s family and friends are in our thoughts and prayers at Sandhills Sentinel.
