Two accused of theft, fraud at Walmart

The Aberdeen Police Department announced on Friday two arrests.

The police department announced the arrest of Destiny Knight, 23, of Raeford. On May 12, officers responded to Walmart about an alleged larceny in progress. They located Knight as she was leaving the scene in a vehicle.

“After Aberdeen Officers stopped Knight and investigated the larceny, they were able to verify the crime had occurred and recover stolen property belonging to the business,” said the Aberdeen Police Department in a press release. “Upon further investigation, officers located several items containing methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia within Knight’s vehicle.”

Knight was arrested on charges of felony possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanor larceny, and possession of stolen goods.

The police department also announced the arrest of Cullen Parker, 19, of Pinehurst. On May 14, officers responded to Walmart regarding an alleged fraud that had previously occurred. Officers and investigators investigated the reports. They reviewed video surveillance and obtained statements; they identified the suspect as Parker.

“Aberdeen Officers and Investigators determined that on three separate dates, Parker committed fraudulent transactions, resulting in property being obtained by false means,” said the Aberdeen Police Department. “Warrants were obtained on Parker for three counts of felony obtaining property by false pretenses. Parker was arrested after he turned himself in to Aberdeen Police Officers and was taken into custody.”

Defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
