Mother accused of killing her 18-month-old child

A 26-year-old woman from Robbins was jailed at the Moore County Detention without bond on a charge of first-degree murder.

Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields said his department received a report on May 30 of an unresponsive 18-month-old child at a home on Spies Road in Robbins.

Fields said the child was taken to Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst and was declared deceased shortly after arrival.

“Sheriff’s investigators learned that the mother, 26-year-old Princess Jasmine McAllister, had left the child unattended for a period of hours and had lied to investigators concerning the circumstances surrounding the death,” said Fields in a statement issued to Sandhills Sentinel.

She was charged with one count of felony child abuse, one count of child neglect, and one count of resisting a public officer.

“On June 7, 2024 sheriff’s investigators charged McAllister with one count of first degree murder after obtaining additional evidence that she intentionally caused the death of the child,” said Fields.

McAllister is due in court on June 12 and is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
