Abandoned mobile home goes up in flames

An abandoned mobile home near Cameron was destroyed in a fire on Wednesday evening.

Cypress Pointe, Carthage and Whispering Pines fire departments were paged to the mobile home in the 300 block of Heron Road.

“Upon the arrival of Engine 221, they reported a working fire in a mobile home with approximately three-quarters of the structure involved, and an outside fire beginning to extend into the surrounding yard,” announced Cypress Pointe Fire and Rescue on its Facebook page. “Crews quickly deployed two attack lines. One line was utilized for exterior fire suppression and then turned on the structure fire, while a second crew forced entry through the front door, advanced an interior line, and successfully cut off the fire’s progression to the remaining portion of the structure.”
