Aberdeen soldier dies in off-duty parachuting accident

On June 12, Sgt. 1st Class Dominic Perry, a member of the U.S. Army Parachute Team, succumbed to injuries he sustained during a non-duty related parachute jump while participating in a civilian-sponsored canopy piloting competition in Whiteville, Tenn., announced the U.S. Army. 

Perry, an Aberdeen resident, was an experienced parachutist and served more than four years with the Golden Knights and over 20 years in the U.S. Army.

“We are profoundly saddened by the loss of our teammate, who served proudly and honorably as a U.S. Army Soldier and uniformed ambassador,” Maj. Gen. Johnny Davis, commanding general of the U.S. Army recruiting command, said. “We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends and loved ones.”
