County shares planning department transitions

Moore County announced the promotion of Senior Planner Ruth Pedersen to planning director. Since joining Moore County as a senior planner, “Pedersen has delivered consistently exceptional service and has proven to be a very capable leader.”

“Those that have had an opportunity to work directly with Mrs. Pedersen have experienced firsthand her professionalism, knowledge, commitment, and welcoming personality,” announced County Manager Wayne Vest.

Current Planning Director Debra Ensminger has plans for retirement on the horizon and has agreed to continue serving the county for a few more months as the land use plan/unified development ordinance director.

“We are so appreciative that Ms. Ensminger gave us ample notice of her retirement plans so we could implement an effective and efficient transition plan,” said Vest. “We also appreciate her continued commitment to the County over the next several months in helping bring updates to the Land Use Plan and Unified Development Ordinance to completion.”

The effective date for these position transitions is May 31.

It is anticipated that the updated Moore County Land Use Plan will be ready for presentation to the Moore County Planning Board and Board of Commissioners this fall.
