The Village of Whispering Pines has welcomed Mike Sellers as its new village manager.
Sellers brings 28 years of experience in the U.S. Army to the position, including work in facilities and construction management, real estate oversight, and major and minor construction projects, the village announced in its newsletter.
In the later years of his military career, Sellers managed facilities and construction projects across multiple locations in the United States and overseas.
He also served as commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers District in Detroit, where he worked with federal, state, and local stakeholders on efforts to restore and preserve natural resources in the Great Lakes region.
Before retiring from the Army, Sellers served with U.S. Army Special Operations Command as deputy chief of staff for engineering.
Sellers holds a bachelor’s degree in science from North Georgia College and a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. He also completed the Executive Development course through the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Sellers and his wife, Christie, have been married for 29 years. They have two children, Elizabeth, 24, and Andrew, 22.
The family has lived in Whispering Pines for the past 10 years.
Outside of work, Sellers enjoys spending time with his family, riding road, gravel, and mountain bikes, supporting the Georgia Bulldogs, and spending time on the water paddleboarding, canoeing, and fishing.
