Aberdeen Police Department promotes lieutenant welcomes new sergeant

The Aberdeen Police Department recently promoted one longtime officer and welcomed a new sergeant with more than a decade of law enforcement experience.

Lt. Christina Ricks was promoted after serving with the department since 2008. During her career in Aberdeen, Ricks has worked as a patrol officer, field training officer, sergeant, and patrol lieutenant.

The department said Ricks has trained and mentored more than 25 officers and has been named Supervisor of the Year twice.

“Last week, Lieutenant Ricks’ husband, Marcus Ricks, held the Bible as she took the Oath of Office,” the department said in a Facebook post announcing the promotion. “We’re excited to see her continue leading, mentoring, and supporting our officers!”

The department also welcomed Sgt. Jamie Hunter, who recently completed her training and joined the Aberdeen Police Department.

Hunter brings more than 10 years of law enforcement experience, having previously served with the California Highway Patrol and Texas Highway Patrol.

Her experience includes serving as a field training officer, academy instructor, and firearms instructor. She is also a nationally certified Drug Recognition Expert.

Hunter was sworn in last week, with her husband, Dale Hunter, holding the Bible as she took the Oath of Office.

“We’re excited to welcome her to the Aberdeen family and look forward to all she will bring to our department and community,” the department said.

The department congratulated both officers and said it was proud to have them serving the Aberdeen community.
