No injuries reported after SUV strikes pole in SP

A driver was uninjured after an SUV struck a utility pole shortly before noon Friday at the intersection of Midland Road and South Knoll Road in Southern Pines.

Authorities on scene reported to Sandhills Sentinel that the driver was going across the intersection from Knoll Road when the vehicle left the roadway and struck the pole, which resulted in heavy front-end damage to the SUV.

The driver was the vehicle’s only occupant and was not injured.

Traffic in the area slowed as crews cleared the wreckage and assessed damage to an electrical panel.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation at this time, and no additional details were released on scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. Southern Pines Fire Department also responded to the scene.
