accident delays 15-501

Shortly after 9 a.m.Tuesday, authorities were called to an accident at the intersection of McCaskill Road and Highway 15-501 in Eastwood. 

The driver of a Ford sedan was taken by ambulance to Moore Regional Hospital with minor injuries. The driver of a work van was evaluated by firefighters and was not taken to the hospital.

The van suffered extensive front end damage, and the sedan had damage to its passenger side.

The accident caused both lanes of traffic to be shut down, and the southbound lane was diverted onto Lea Road. The Northbound lane was closed for 20 minutes until it was safe to open one lane of traffic.

The accident caused delays as rescue crews cleared the debris from the road.

The exact cause of the accident is being investigated. 

Eastwood Fire Department was on scene within minutes and was able to assist the drivers and offer aid.

Responding to the scene were Eastwood Fire and Rescue, Pinehurst Fire and Rescue, Moore County EMS, Moore County Sheriff’s Department, and the State Highway Patrol.
