Arrest made after a woman was robbed at gunpoint

An arrest has been made after a woman was allegedly robbed at gunpoint.

“On Friday, February 9, 2024, the Moore County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a robbery at a residence located in the 100 block of Fullers Way in Aberdeen,” said Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields in a statement issued to Sandhills Sentinel. “The resident reported that two male subjects had entered the residence and held her at gunpoint while demanding money. The two male subjects left the residence, and the victim dialed 911.”

Hoke County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the investigation, and deputies arrested Damek Locklear, 20, of Parkton, North Carolina, on the same day.

Locklear was charged with one count of felony breaking and entering, one count of felony robbery with a dangerous weapon, one count of felony second-degree kidnapping, and one count of misdemeanor assault on a female.

“The victim’s residence was not chosen at random, as one or both of the suspects in this case may have been known to one of the occupants,” said Fields. “This investigation is still ongoing and pending further charges. Anyone with information regarding this matter is requested to please contact the Moore County Sheriff’s Office Tip Line at 910-947-4444.”

Locklear was placed at the Moore County Detention Center under a $250,000 secured bond. He is due in court on March 4 and is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
