Arrests made in Taylortown shooting case

Two arrests were made in the Talortown shooting case, according to Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields.

Fields said deputies responded to the shooting in the 1200 block of Juniper Lake Road shortly after 1:30 a.m. on Sept. 1.

“Upon arrival, deputies located the victim, a 26-year-old male, who had sustained a gunshot wound to the lower leg,” said Fields in a news release on Sept. 3. “The victim was transported to Moore Regional Hospital for treatment.”

Arrest warrants were issued for 44-year-old Dectrek Barrett, of West End, after he fled the scene, said Fields.

“In the course of the investigation, sheriff’s detectives executed a search warrant at his residence, where they seized various controlled substances and firearms,” said Fields in another press release regarding Dectrek Barrett’s arrest on Sept. 10. “Barrett was arrested on warrants obtained in connection with the shooting and the drugs and firearms found in his home.”

During the investigation, Diamond Barrett, 30, of West End, “was also identified as being involved in the shooting” and arrested on Sept. 4.

Diamond Barrett is facing charges of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, discharging a weapon into an occupied vehicle, and communicating threats. She is being held on a $10,000 secured bond.
