Aberdeen and Cameron Elementary schools received a threat through a tip line on Tuesday.
The school district sent families a message around 2 p.m. announcing the possible threats and said all Moore County schools were placed on a soft lockdown with limited movement out of an abundance of caution. The message said the possible threats were non-credible and dismissals were at regular times with a structured release process.
Moore County Schools is working with the Sheriff’s Department to investigate the anonymous threats.
“Law enforcement personnel are currently on the scene and have not identified any credible threat at this time,” said Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields on social media around 1 p.m. “We are working closely with school police to ensure the safety of all Moore County Schools.”
“Evidence shows that this threat is part of a pattern of similar threats occurring recently across the state,” added Fields.
