The Country Club of North Carolina (CCNC), with its selection by Boardroom Magazine, is now on the renowned list of Distinguished Clubs.
CCNC’s selection by the private club industry magazine, in partnership with Forbes Travel Guide, puts it alongside other Distinguished Clubs such as Augusta National Golf Club, Cypress Point Club, Pine Valley Golf Club, and Oakmont C.C, as well as Pinehurst Country Club, Myers Park C.C., Carolina C.C., Carmel C.C., and Forsyth C.C. in North Carolina.
“We were very honored to learn of CCNC’s designation as a Distinguished Club with Elite Status, a level of recognition reserved for the top 3% of clubs, worldwide,” said CCNC General Manager/COO Jim Sutton in a press release. “To even be considered, one must first be formally nominated by another Distinguished Club. When you look at the Distinguished Clubs roster, it’s very impressive, and shortlisting of the best of the best in our industry; these are world-class properties that exemplify outstanding governance and leadership, impressive amenities, and a wonderful community of members. This recognition further validates The Country Club of North Carolina’s commitment to providing an exceptional member experience, and the vision that our founding members set out to achieve more than sixty years ago. It’s a great day in Pinehurst, and I am very proud for our members and for incredible team of employees.”
According to the Boardroom Magazine website, the Distinguished Club honor is the “ultimate benchmark that recognizes excellence for the few that have earned it.”
A three-step merit-based process includes nomination from a GM of a current Distinguished Club, a member experience survey to gather feedback on their satisfaction across numerous areas and on-site physical inspection and interviews with Club staff.
Five qualities – intangibles, service, governance, facility and product – along with 37 specific criteria are employed in the evaluation methodology.
In the Elite category, the chosen private clubs provide the highest standards of top-tier service, facilities, and amenities, and are one of the most highly regarded private clubs (in their category), and they consistently achieve outstanding NPS and MEI metrics. Only 3% of clubs reach Elite status, and CCNC is not eligible for the highest status – Iconic – because it has not reached 75 years of existence.
“On behalf of the membership of The Country Club of North Carolina, I congratulate all of the staff here for this richly deserved honor,” said CCNC President Charlie Rivers. “Each of them establishes levels of service that always bring a smile because they are presented with warm, welcoming and courteous ways. The members feel like they are home at CCNC, and that stems from the friendliness and professionalism of all of the great folks who work at CCNC.”
