Work is progressing on the construction of the extension of the Triangle Expressway, the Complete 540 project. Activities on the schedule to take place through the month of December include:
Clearing of land during daytime hours in the areas where N.C. 540 will cross Benson Road, West Lake Road and Interstate 40;
Median bridge foundation construction for the new interchange with Interstate 40;
Construction entrances along U.S. 401;
Traffic may experience intermittent lane closures and minor delays during daytime, non-peak hours the week of Dec. 2.
The first phase of the Complete 540 Project extends the existing Triangle Expressway between the N.C. 55 Bypass and Interstate 40. Residents and drivers can receive construction updates by following @NCDOT_Triangle on Twitter or visiting ncdot.gov/turnpike.
