Multiple fire crews responded to a house fire in Carthage on Friday morning. The occupants safely escaped the blaze at 4:30 a.m. on Pinehurst Avenue.
Crews from Cypress Pointe Fire and Rescue, Carthage Fire and Rescue, Eastwood Fire and Rescue, Whispering Pines Fire and Rescue, Moore County EMS, and Carthage Police Department were on the scene for several hours.

Retired Cypress Pointe Firefighter, Frank Staples, said “The caller had cut her hand trying to get out of a window, but the injury was not life threatening.”
Staples said the firefighters were able to save the house from the fire, but there was a fair amount of inside damage.
