Crews respond to crash near Vass

Emergency crews responded to a single-vehicle accident near Vass on Sunday.

The driver of a sedan lost control of the car and went off the road and into a tree line on Highway 690 and Morrison Bridge Road around 11 p.m.

The 911 call center checked to see the status of medevac, however, a helicopter was unavailable.

The driver was trapped in the car.

“Members removed the doors to gain easier access and Cypress Pointe responded as a second rescue and assist with removing the roof,” said Crains Creek Fire Department on its social media page. The driver was then removed and placed on a backboard to be transported by EMS.”

The driver’s condition is unclear at this time.

The car was heavily damaged in the crash.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the accident.
