Ready to discover your inner alchemist? Alchemy Wellness Center in Sanford, focused on holistic healing and community building, is helping people heal with personalized wellness programs and products.
In May 2023, Samantha Mahon, LCMHCS (Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor), and Eric Bouwman, CPH (Certified Professional Hypnotist), co-founded Alchemy Wellness Center, LLC, with a mission to transform lives through holistic healing and community building.
“We were inspired to found Alchemy because we understood that the healing process is an alchemical process that is as unique and different as each individual person is,” Sam explained. “Over the past two years, we have been dedicated to honoring all who come to our store and wellness center, and even more dedicated to creating a sense of community for people to heal with.”
Located in Sanford, the healing arts center and metaphysical store offer a wide range of services and products aimed at nurturing the mind, body, and spirit.
“Healing is not linear,” stated Sam. “It’s an alchemical process of combining many different things that result in a sense of peace and harmony in life.”
Alchemy Wellness Center invites clients to explore their “inner alchemist” by trying new modalities of healing. Their extensive offerings include (but are certainly not limited to) therapeutic massage, sound healing, Reiki energy healing, chakra balancing, aura healings, hypnosis, HeartMath, somatic healing, mindset coaching, past-life explorations, and a unique salt suite experience.
In addition to their professional services, the center hosts innovative workshops designed to promote learning and community engagement, with a focus on “commUNITY.”
This all-encompassing variety of services is a direct reflection of Alchemy’s belief that healing is a deeply personal and lifelong journey. As such, services are always tailored to each individual’s unique needs.
“Often, the recommendations for how to heal and what modalities to try come through conversations with our clients and customers,” Sam continued. “When someone tells us their story, we can often recommend which modality to try first or allow each person to decide for themselves what they believe will work best.”
Over the past 20 months, Sam and Eric have loved seeing which services the community appreciates the most. The center’s most popular services include energy healing modalities, massage therapy, and hypnosis. In the retail space, ethically sourced crystals, incense, handmade jewelry by local artisans, candles, and ritual items are among the most sought-after products.
“People are amazed that a place like this is right in their own community, and they don’t have to travel to Raleigh or Fayetteville for their metaphysical and spiritual needs,” said Sam.
For Sam and Eric, the most rewarding aspect of running Alchemy Wellness Center has been witnessing the growth of their community.
Sam recalled, “The most rewarding part of running Alchemy Wellness Center has been watching our community grow both in numbers and in their own healing journeys. We feel blessed and honored to accompany our clients and customers on their healing journeys.”
Their love for the community runs deep. Eric, a Sanford native, has spent his life supporting the local community, while Sam—originally from Ohio and a former resident of Puerto Rico for a decade—now happily calls Sanford home. Together, they share a love for all things metaphysical, nature, and trying new experiences. When they’re not working, they can be found spending time with their blended family of five and their “fur babies.”
