Dog and cat rescued from burning home

Two animals were saved after a fire broke out in a Seven Lakes West house in West End on Friday afternoon.

A man called 911 around 4 p.m. to report seeing smoke and flames coming from a home located on James Drive. First responders arrived to heavy smoke coming from the roofline of the house.

Firefighters were able to enter the home and quickly extinguish the fire. The flames were contained to a half bath, however, the rest of the house sustained smoke damage.

Officials credit having the door to the bathroom closed when the fire started helped prevent it from moving farther through the home.

No one was home at the time of the blaze. One dog and one cat were rescued from the house and were treated by Moore County EMS personnel on the scene.

Many agencies from across Moore County responded to the scene. They include West End Fire Department, Seven Lakes Fire Department, Eagle Springs Fire Department, Eastwood Fire Department, Pinehurst Fire Department, Moore County EMS, Moore County Public Safety, and Moore County Sheriff’s Department.
