Driver airlifted after crashing into tree

A man was airlifted to a trauma center after his pickup truck went off the road and struck a tree on Connecticut Avenue in Southern Pines on Friday.

The crash happened in the curve near Duncraig Manor around 6:40 p.m. The Ford F150 suffered heavy front-end damage in the wreck.

The man was transported by EMS to Memorial Park on Morganton Road in Southern Pines, where a landing zone was set up for Carolina Aircare. He was airlifted to a trauma center. His condition is unknown at this time.

Southern Pines Police were on the scene and investigating the crash.
