Driver airlifted after two-vehicle crash in Cameron

A crash in Cameron sent one driver to a trauma center by medevac Wednesday evening. The two-vehicle accident happened around 6:30 p.m. on Stanton Hill Road at Governors Creek Lane.

According to authorities, a Dodge Durango making a left turn onto Stanton Hill Road pulled into the path of a Chevrolet Silverado traveling south. The Chevrolet swerved to miss the Dodge but collided with the car’s front corner, sending the SUV several feet off the road. The Chevrolet rolled over, resting on its driver’s side against a road sign.

Both vehicles were left with heavy damage.

The male driver of the Dodge Durango was checked out by EMS but refused transport to the hospital.

The male driver of the Chevrolet truck was transported to a landing zone at Cameron ball field and airlifted to a trauma center. His condition is unknown, but injuries are believed to be nonlife-threatening.

One lane of Stanton Hill Road was shut down while crews worked the scene, and Spiveys Wrecker Service removed the vehicles.

Highway Patrol was on the scene investigating the crash.
