drive escapes injury hitting tree

A driver escaped serious injuries after a rollover accident in Pinebluff Monday. The single-vehicle accident occurred on U.S. Highway 1 and Currant Street just after noon.

The car was heading southbound when the driver ran off the left-hand side of the road into the median and struck a tree in the center divide.

The driver stated that another vehicle was driving towards him northbound in the southbound lane of Highway 1, forcing him to swerve out of the way of the oncoming car. The State Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.

The driver was attended to by Moore County paramedics and had a couple of scraps but was mainly just shook up after the crash.

One southbound lane was shut down while emergency crews worked. No debris was along the roadway as the crash was contained within the median divide.

Responding to the scene were Pinebluff Fire & Rescue, Pinebluff Police, Moore County EMS, and N.C. Highway Patrol.
