Driver transported after crash near Eastwood

A single-vehicle crash briefly shut down U.S. 15-501 near the Eastwood community Monday night. Emergency units were dispatched just after 7 p.m. to the scene of the wreck just north of the Moore County L.E.O. building. 

According to officials, the female driver of a Toyota Corolla crossed the center line and overcorrected before losing control and plunging off of a steep embankment, crashing into a tree. 

The vehicle was heavily damaged in the crash but the female driver, who was the only occupant, was not seriously injured. She was transported to Moore Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

U.S. 15-501 was shut down for a brief period while crews worked the scene and the vehicle was removed.

North Carolina State Highway Patrol was on scene and is investigating the crash.

Responding units were the Eastwood Fire Department, Moore County EMS, and North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
