Driver uninjured after Mustang flips during Southern Pines storm

A driver walked away uninjured after his Ford Mustang overturned during a storm on Thursday evening. The crash happened around 6:30 p.m. on southbound U.S. 1 near St. Joseph Road in Southern Pines.

According to officials on scene, the driver lost control of the vehicle in heavy rain, veered off the right side of the roadway, and rolled the car.

Emergency crews confirmed the driver was wearing a seatbelt and did not require transport to the hospital after being evaluated by EMS on scene.

The crash occurred as a series of fast-moving storms passed through the area, resulting in sudden downpours and slick road conditions across the county.

North Carolina State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash, and no further details have been released at this time. Southern Pines Fire & Rescue and Moore County EMS responded to the scene.
