A two-vehicle crash in Carthage Friday night shut down a small portion of U.S. 15-501 southbound at the crossover from Monroe Street.
The collision between a Ford truck and a Toyota Camry happened around 5:45 p.m. Authorities on scene told Sandhills Sentinel that the driver of the Toyota failed to stop at the crossover intersection and pulled into the path of the Ford truck traveling southbound.
The vehicles collided nearly head-on, causing significant front-end damage to the Toyota passenger car.
The crash could be heard by patrons in the drive-thru at Bojangles.
Southbound traffic was diverted onto Monroe Street, which caused the evening commute to slow to a crawl through the area.
The drivers were the only occupants and did not require medical treatment.
Crews worked to clear the vehicles from the road while the Carthage Police Department and the Moore County Sheriff’s Office investigated the crash.
Responding units included the Carthage Fire Department, Moore County EMS, Carthage Police Department and Moore County Sheriff’s Office.
