Trade Craft Coffee Roasters has opened its first brick-and-mortar location in Southern Pines after years of serving customers from a mobile coffee truck around the Sandhills. The shop held a soft opening on Nov. 4 and invited local coffee enthusiasts to visit the new storefront.

Owners Chadwick and Danielle Wahinekapu have spent months preparing the space and transitioning their mobile veteran-owned business into a full café. There’s a latte love about the new shop, which is in the same building that was previously Frankie’s Southern Grinds on Old U.S. Highway 1.

Trade Craft has built a following with its small-batch specialty roasts, espresso drinks, and cold brew on tap. The couple said on Facebook that the permanent location offers room to expand their menu and create a consistent space for coffee lovers to gather.

The Wahinekapus say their mission is to “reintroduce people to coffee” through sustainability, education, and quality service. The business focuses on single-origin, responsibly sourced coffees, as well as teas, cocoa, and baked goods from local bakeries. Tradecraft even offers exotic blends and flavors for those looking for a new experience.

Trade Craft Coffee Roasters is open Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The shop is located at 1120 Old U.S. Highway 1 in Southern Pines.
