Golf Tournament: Benefit for Kaylie Kimball June 16

Prancing Horse recently announced their upcoming Helicopter Golf Ball Drop Fundraiser on Veterans Day, Wednesday, Nov. 11, at 10:40 a.m. at the Mid South Club in Southern Pines. All proceeds benefit Prancing Horse, which provides therapeutic horsemanship programs for veterans, children, and adults with a range of cognitive, emotional, and physical needs, helping them build emotional health, social growth, and physical strength through their connection with horses.

This promises to be a unique fundraiser that will have everyone looking up with anticipation, and winners enjoying some hefty prize money. Participants first purchase golf balls online. Balls cost $20 each; three balls are $50; seven balls are $100; and 20 balls are $250. Buyers will be assigned a numbered ball for each ball purchased.

On Veterans Day, participants will gather on a designated green at the Mid South Club and watch a helicopter soar overhead carrying the hundreds of purchased golf balls. At precisely 10:40 a.m., the helicopter door will open, and the balls will rain down on the golf course. The ball that lands in the hole or closest to the pin is worth $3,000 in prize money; second closest is worth $1,500. Winners will be notified by email. Everyone is eligible, and participants need not be present at the event to win.

“This fundraiser is really going to be fun and exciting to watch,” states Cindy Strohm, president of the Prancing Horse Board of Directors. “We expect a big crowd to come out to see the Ball Drop Event, everyone hoping they’ll be one of the lucky winners.”
