The Moore County Library will offer a series of homeschool programs for students of various ages throughout September and October.
The Hidden Colors of Autumn
Students in grades second through fifth can become certified “leaf detectives” while learning about the hidden colors of autumn with Emily Carson of the N.C. Cooperative Extension. The program will explore the science and seasonal changes behind the colors found in leaves.

Homeschool Art
Students in kindergarten through fifth grade can experiment with a variety of art mediums and create mixed-media works through guided instruction.

Homeschool Art History
Students in grades sixth through 12th will study 19th- and 20th-century art movements and practice creating artwork in the styles of prominent artists.
Date and time: Thursday, Sept. 17, 2-3:30 p.m.
Correspondence Club
Students in grades third through fifth can learn how to properly format a letter and address an envelope, design postcards, try writing with quill and ink, and learn about the postal service. A homeschool pen pal program with homeschoolers from Southern Pines Public Library also will be available to interested participants.

Fact or Fiction? Fair
Homeschool students of all grade levels are invited to research a subject that has yet to be proven true and present their findings to fellow homeschoolers. Participants can create a presentation board, diorama, model, or poster featuring information and visuals such as photos and drawings. Fellow participants will then decide whether each subject is fact or fiction.
Topic examples include Bigfoot, Atlantis, mermaids, fairies, crop circles, unicorns, aliens and other myths and legends.
Participants should sign up between Sept. 1 and Sept. 30. The event will include setup time from 2-2:30 p.m., followed by the fair from 2:30-4:30 p.m.
