Employee charged with embezzling $41K

An employee is accused of embezzling over $41,000 from a local business, Reservoir International. According to its website, Reservoir International “provides training support and services to government and private organizations.”

In a media release, Aberdeen Police Chief Brian Chavis said his department arrested Heather Berube, 38, of Fayetteville.

Chavis said the department received a report of embezzlement on March 3.

“After the initial facts were obtained, Aberdeen Investigators responded to the business and began gathering the details,” said Chavis. “Investigators reviewed financial statements, documents, and personal emails. Investigators were able to determine that Berbue (sic) embezzled over $41,000 from the business between December 2023 and August 2024, in the form of unauthorized bonuses, raises, and credit card expenses for personal gain.”

Arrest warrants were obtained on Berube on March 17 for felony embezzlement.

The Fayetteville Police Department arrested her on March 31. Her secured bond was set at $10,000.
