The Oglethorpe County Sheriff’s Office in Georgia, with the assistance of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Arkansas State Police and Denton Texas Police Department, are wrapping up a multi-state investigation with the arrest of a Moore County man wanted for murder in Georgia, according to a news advisory released by the Oglethorpe County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday.
Michael Dusch, 29, of West End, was arrested on March 6 in Denton, Texas. He is facing charges of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, aggravated battery, exploitation of elderly, false imprisonment, concealing the death of another, financial transaction card theft and identity fraud. Additional charges may be forthcoming as the investigation continues.
“Dusch was identified as a wanted person in North Carolina for Child Pornography and Identity theft charges when he was stopped for a traffic stop in Denton Texas in a stolen vehicle,” said the Oglethorpe County Sheriff’s Office. “Items found led to contact with our agency that connected him to the murder of David J. Stewart in our county. Dusch is also linked to an investigation in Arkansas for an incident there that is still being investigated.”
The Georgia Bureau of Investigations (GBI) said the man’s body was discovered on property in Winterville, GA, on Feb. 25. The body was taken to the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
Dusch is awaiting the extradition process to Georgia to face these charges.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
