Empowerment shines at local event, raising $13K for Rachel’s Refuge

Changing Destinies Ministry’s “Fashion for Freedom” event, held on Friday, June 28, at the Forest Creek Country Club, raised $13,645 to support Rachel’s Refuge, a Christ-centered residential program for women seeking recovery and independence.

The event, attended by 150 guests, seamlessly blended fashion, dance, and music to celebrate freedom while supporting a crucial cause. The highlight of the evening was an enchanting fashion show featuring collections from local boutiques such as Eve Avery Boutique, Monkees of the Pines, Perle by Lola, and Denker Dry Goods. Models captivated the audience, embodying themes of liberation and self-expression through the latest trends.

In addition to the fashion show, the audience enjoyed compelling dance performances by members of L. Mace Dance Studio. Their choreography conveyed powerful messages of empowerment and solidarity. Musical entertainment was provided by the Carolina Philharmonic Junior Orchestra, whose young musicians delighted guests with their classical repertoire and dynamic performances.

“Fashion for Freedom” aimed not only to entertain but also to make a significant impact. Through ticket sales and generous contributions, the event successfully raised $13,645 for Rachel’s Refuge. This program offers a safe haven and comprehensive support to women on their journey to recovery and independence.

Kimberly Nixon, executive director of Changing Destinies Ministry, expressed her gratitude to all participants and attendees. “I will not accept human trafficking happening in my county, state, country, or world,” Nixon said. “We are grateful for those who support our mission and help save others.”
