Two fire departments in eastern Moore County were called to action on Friday in the early morning hours. Crains Creek Fire Department and Cypress Pointe Fire Department were dispatched to Autumn Drive, located off Riverbend Drive in Lobelia, for a vehicle fire.
The first unit on the scene reported a working vehicle fire in the front yard near a mobile home.
A Ford Explorer was found to be fully engulfed in flames.
At the time, it did not appear the home was involved. After extinguishing the vehicle fire, a person on the property informed firefighters of a possible fire in the mobile home. They found heavy black smoke coming from a room and began an interior fire attack. The fire was quickly knocked down, but the room received extensive damage.
It is unknown how the fires started at this time, as the Moore County Fire Marshal is investigating.
Moore County EMS, Moore County Sheriff’s Office, and Moore County Public Safety also responded to the scene.
