The Aberdeen Police Department responded to Walmart on Friday regarding a larceny in progress.
Officers were able to locate the suspect vehicle after the occupants left the store. Officers conducted a stop on the vehicle and identified a female driver and David Revels, 51, of Laurinburg.
“Officers began to investigate the larceny and were able to verify the crime had occurred, after reviewing video surveillance and witness statements,” said Aberdeen Police Chief Brian Chavis in a news release. “Upon a search incident to arrest, Methamphetamine was located on Revels’ person and officers saw drug paraphernalia in plain view, inside the vehicle. The stolen items, totaling over $800.00, were located inside the vehicle and were recovered.”
Revels was charged with felony possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanor larceny, and possession of stolen property.
Revels was taken before a Moore County magistrate, who gave him no bond due to a pretrial release violation. In addition, Revels had active warrants out of Scotland County for felony possession with the intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver a schedule II controlled substance and felony maintaining a vehicle/dwelling/place; he was also given no bond for those outstanding charges due to a pretrial release violation, said Chavis.
