If you’ve ever gone to the DMV office in Town & Country Shopping Center in Aberdeen to register your vehicle, chances are you have walked right past the front entrance of J-Vapor.
J-Vapor has been in business for five years, and Buddy Wright has been the general manager for the last three. Moore County residents Rick and Sanna Nassar purchased J-Vapor from the previous owner in August of 2019.
Very soon after the store changed ownership, stories began to surface in the press about the dangerous impacts and health risks associated with vaping. In speaking with Buddy, I learned that the negative press has definitely impacted their business with respect to the vaping products they sell.
As of Dec 31, 2019, the CDC states that so far, 55 people across 27 states have died due to illnesses associated with vaping, and the total number of people hospitalized is 2,561.
Buddy mentioned that those suffering from lung ailments and getting sick from vaping had been consuming black market THC cartridges that had Vitamin E acetate added.
In the same article cited above, the CDC mentioned the connection between THC cartridges, Vitamin E acetate and those who had died or fallen ill.
The CDC said in early November it was narrowing in on the substance as a “potential toxin of concern” after it was detected in 29 out of 29 lung tissue samples tested by public health officials. THC, the active ingredient in marijuana, was found in 23 of the 29 samples tested, officials said. Nicotine was detected in 16 samples, which came from 10 different states across the country.
The CDC has recommended that consumers stop vaping, particularly THC and especially anything bought off the street. Until the relationship of vitamin E acetate and lung health is better understood, it is important that the compound not be added to e-cigarette or vaping products, the CDC said.
While the practice of vaping certainly is one that generates discussion and controversy, Buddy was quick to point out that he has helped many people stop smoking. He said that several COPD clients have come in looking for help to get off cigarettes.
Focusing now on CBD & Hemp Products
In response to a changing market, J-Vapor is now shifting its product emphasis to CBD and hemp products.
Hemp infused BBQ sauce, peanut butter, and rasberry jelly available for purchase at JVapor.
Their CBD infused products include tinctures, gummies, creams, smokables, and they even carry hemp infused BBQ sauce, peanut butter and raspberry jelly.
During our visit, I learned that the potency of the CBD products they carry can vary from 75 milligrams to 1,300 milligrams, and they have “Top Shelf” CBD products that are all North Carolina grown.

Understanding what the right dosage is for your own medical needs can certainly be a confusing exercise for the consumer. According to Billy, the majority of their clients are well educated on CBD and know exactly what they are looking for. For those that are looking for assistance about what dosage they should take, Billy recommends that they consult with their doctor.
