Brittany Fowler, R.N., has been recognized as the August 2018 DAISY Award Winner for FirstHealth of the Carolinas.
Fowler is a nurse at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst and currently works on the 3Surgical Orthopaedics and Urology unit.
She was nominated by a patient who, in the nomination, said, “Brittany is an exceptional nurse who is a great member of your staff who undoubtedly showcases the care, professionalism and everything a superb medical facility has to offer. Although I won’t soon forget the pain and suffering of my medical problem, I can guarantee I will remember the exceptional care and comfort Brittany provided me and will highly recommend your facility as long as you employ such tremendous individuals.
“It is my hope that she can receive some type of reward for her care of me as all I can offer is my sincere thanks and ongoing appreciation. You don’t come by an individual more dedicated to their patients, as Brittany definitely is. Anyone lucky enough to have Brittany as their caregiver will undoubtedly never forget the kindness, quality of care and just how exceptional a person and nurse she is.
“If for whatever reason I need care in the future, it is my hope I will be lucky enough to have her as my nurse again. Please tell her that I cannot thank her enough for everything she did to make this difficult time an experience that won’t forget, but not due to the pain and suffering, but for the exceptional care she provided me.”
The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses was established by the Daisy Foundation, a not-for-profit, based in Glen Ellen, Calif. The foundation was started by family members in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who died at the age of 33 from complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura, a little known but not uncommon auto-immune disease.
The care Barnes and his family received from nurses inspired this unique means of thanking nurses for making a profound difference in the lives of their patients and patients’ families. Today, there are more than 2,800 health care facilities in all 50 states and 17 other countries honoring their nurses with the DAISY Award.
FirstHealth of the Carolinas, which includes Moore Regional Hospital, Moore Regional Hospital – Richmond, Moore Regional Hospital – Hoke and Montgomery Memorial Hospital, recognizes an extraordinary nurse each month, and has since 2014.
