Brian Fahey, Director of Tournament Operations for the Pinehurst Resort and Country Club, has been chosen as a Rules Committee Official at The Masters golf tournament held in Augusta, Georgia this week. The Masters Rules Committee is made up of rules officials from around the world and from all the major golf organizations.

The Masters is one of four major championships in professional golf. The tournament has been held each April since 1934. As a Rules Committee member, Brian will join others on the Rules Committee to apply the Rules of Golf during the tournament.

It is not the first time Brian has played a role in high profile golf tournaments. As a member of the PGA of America Rules Committee, he was selected for the PGA Rules Committee in 2015 and will be in the same capacity for golf’s next major championship, the PGA Championship held at Bethpage, New York in May.

“So far my Master experience has been really indescribable,” said Brian. “There is nothing else like it.”

Brian first started playing golf with his father growing up in Massachusetts. After graduating from Coastal Carolina with a degree in business, he landed an internship in 2005 at the Pinehurst Resort and Country Club.

Now he runs the entire tournament operations, including the North & South Amateur Championships held in Pinehurst each June and several member-guest events. All totaled, Brian and his team conduct and oversee more than 60 events a year.
