Man facing 8 charges after drug investigation

A man from Southern Pines is facing eight drug charges stemming from an arrest after an investigation with Moore County Sheriff’s Department and Southern Pines Police Department.

Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields said James Parker II was arrested on Wednesday, Oct. 6 and placed at the Moore County Detention Center under a $25,000 secured bond

Law enforcement “conducted a drug investigation in the 100 block of East New Hampshire Avenue in Southern Pines,” said Fields. “During the investigation, deputies conducted a vehicle search and located cocaine, marijuana, items of drug paraphernalia, and $1,387.00 in currency. As a result of the vehicle search, deputies executed a search warrant in the 400 block of West Connecticut Avenue in Southern Pines. During the search, Deputies located marijuana and items of drug paraphernalia.”

Parker, 48, was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, felony possession of cocaine, sell cocaine, deliver cocaine, maintaining a vehicle/dwelling place for controlled substances, possession of marijuana up to ½ ounce, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.

Parker is due in court on Nov. 4 and is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
