UPDATE:
On Oct. 19, sheriff’s investigators and the sheriff’s response team executed search warrants at two residences on R Sands Road in Aberdeen in connection with the shooting. The search warrants resulted in the arrest of Christian Robinson, 18, of Aberdeen.
Robinson was charged with one count of attempted first degree murder and one count of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, and was committed to the Moore County Detention Center under a $500,000 secured bond pending a first appearance in Moore County District Court on Friday, Oct, 21.

The Moore County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a shooting that occurred outside of Aberdeen on Saturday, Oct. 15.
A man was shot twice just after 5 p.m. in the 100 block of Sherwood Drive in Sherwood Park neighborhood off Sand Pit Road.

Authorities set up a nearby landing zone where the victim was airlifted to an area trauma center.
His condition is unknown at this time.
“Investigators on scene do not believe that this was a random act of violence and that there is no immediate danger to the public,” said Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields. “The scene is currently active as the investigation is ongoing.”
No other details were released.
This is the third shooting Sandhills Sentinel has reported in a week.
There was a shooting in downtown Aberdeen on Main Street on Oct. 8. while many people were eating lunch or browsing stores near the scene.

“The suspect was described as a black male in dark clothing and a black face mask,” said Aberdeen Police Department. “The suspect got out of the driver’s side of a white sedan and was seen firing shots at a dark blue Honda Pilot.”
More than 12 shell casings were seen near the railroad tracks at the intersection of West Main Street and North Sycamore Street.
No injuries were reported at the scene.

Hours later on the same day, a teenager was fatally shot in Southern Pines at the Pure Mart gas station on Central Drive just before 8 p.m.
“Upon arrival, members of the Patrol Division located De ’Marcus Isaiah Chambliss, 17 years of age, of Fayetteville, North Carolina who was deceased as a result of several gunshot wounds. The investigation thus far has revealed that this was not a random act of violence and that the victim and suspect were acquaintances and knew one another,” said Southern Pines Deputy Police Chief Charles Campbell.

The shooting occurred after four people in one car pulled up to the pumps, according Campbell. The victim got out of the car to pump gas. The shooter got out of the same vehicle and shot the victim four times at close range. The shooter got back into the vehicle along with the two other occupants and fled the scene.
A BOLO (Be on the Lookout) alert went out on the scanner for the suspect’s vehicle which was a 2006 blue/gray Honda Civic. The vehicle was last seen displaying North Carolina license plate TKE-5412 and has a noticeable red, front, right fender.
