Medical call leads to drug, weapon charges

A man from Carthage faces multiple drug and weapon charges after Aberdeen Police responded to a medical call at a business.

Thirty-two-year-old Chad Rouse was placed at the Moore County Detention Center under no bond on charges of felony possession of Schedule IV, felony possession with intent to sell and deliver Schedule IV, felony maintaining a vehicle for controlled substance, felony possession of firearm by felon, carrying a concealed weapon, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

“On October 12, 2024, Aberdeen Officers were called to a business off Hwy 5 and Anderson St, in reference to a medical call,” announced Aberdeen Police Chief Brian Chavis. “When they arrived, CPR was being performed, and once life-saving measures were given, officers began investigating the circumstances behind the call. The owner of the vehicle Rouse was driving, who was also on scene, provided consent for officers to search the vehicle.”

Officers located a handgun, a large amount of cash, and a box containing various suspected narcotics. Inside the box, officers identified numerous bottles of suspected Xanax containing 240 dosages, as well as over 100 grams of unidentified suspected controlled substances.

“The remaining narcotics will be tested at the State Crime Lab at a later date,” said Chavis.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
