Minor league baseball is alive and well in North Carolina, and soon to be a lot closer to the Sandhills when the Buies Creek Astros relocate to downtown Fayetteville next year.
With a new stadium now being built in the heart of Fayetteville, baseball fans will be able to watch big league prospects from across the country and Latin America “play ball” in our own backyard. The $37.8 million stadium, located behind the historic Prince Charles Hotel, will be ready for the 2019 season next April.
The Buies Creek Astros, Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Houston Astros, now play their games on the Campus of Campbell University. In the attached photos, the Buies Creek Astros play the Carolina Mudcats at Five County Stadium in Zebulon, North Carolina.
