Monday crash sends man to the hospital

A crash that sent a man to the hospital was called in just before 12:30 p.m. Monday.

The pickup truck was traveling toward Highway 15-501 in the 800 block of Doubs Chapel Road outside of Carthage. The truck crossed the centerline and went off the left side of the road. The driver hit a tree before flipping on its side in the left lane of the highway.

The impact caused debris from the bed of the truck to be thrown into the woods. Some of which were hanging from trees.

When the first units arrived on the scene, they found the man laying on the ground outside of the truck. It appeared the victim crawled from the truck.

Air Care was called but could not fly due to weather. He was transported to Moore Regional Hospital by ambulance. His condition is unknown at this time, but it is believed his injuries are not life-threatening.

The man was the only person in the vehicle.

Doubs Chapel Road was brought down to one lane of traffic for an extended time while debris and the truck could be cleaned up.

Responding to the scene were Carthage Fire and Rescue, Eastwood Fire and Rescue, Moore County EMS, Moore County Sheriff’s Office, and N.C. State Highway Patrol.
