Moore Buddies Mentoring held a free yard sale Tuesday at Aberdeen Lake Park. They had been collecting clothing and household items for weeks and invited folks to come and get whatever they needed.

It was one small way that they felt they could help out the community. The pandemic has hit everyone, but some worse than others. Families are hurting for basic needs, and so they felt like this would be helpful for them.

Moore Buddies Mentoring has had some opportunities to give food and other needs throughout the pandemic, but with school starting, they knew that kids needed clothing, so they thought about how they could help. Generous people donated all sizes of kids and toddler clothing as well as kitchen and household items, and people seemed to find lots that they could use.

Andrew Kegley at Whispering Pines Food Lion donated grocery bags, Scott Whitaker at Mid-Carolina Self Storage in Vass donated a box truck to haul everything from Seven Lakes to Aberdeen and Aberdeen Police Department checked in to see how everything went.

The organization plans to collect more goods and clothing, and take the event to the Northern part of the county to help them out. They are hurting there, too, and are often not included in the events that take place in the rest of the county.
