The Moore County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center passes its no-notice bi-annual inspection with zero discrepancies, according to the Moore County Sheriff’s Office.
The Moore County Sheriff’s Office Detention Facility is inspected biannually by inspectors of the Jail and Detention Unit, a section of the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. Commonly referred as “Jail Inspectors,” they inspect facilities to ensure compliance with the rules and regulations governing the operation, surveillance and monitoring of North Carolina jail facilities [10A NCAC 14J].
Some of the many items Jail Inspectors survey are:
*Kitchen, Shower and Faucet Health and Sanitation Inspections
*Fire Marshal Inspections
*Quarterly Fire Drills conducted
*Number, location and date of facility Fire Extinguishers
*Fire Suppression System
*Facility Cleanliness
*Policy and Procedures
*Inmate Medical Plan
*Number of Cell-Checks completed
*Dietitians review of menus
*Daily Population [male, female and juvenile]
*Special Population
*Completion and accuracy of Monthly Reports
*Accuracy of cell-check and sanitation logs
*Thicknesses of inmate mattresses
*Facility lighting
Unannounced, Inspectors arrive facilities and begin their no-notice inspections which take several hours to complete.
