First case of Monkeypox identified in Moore County

Moore County Health Department said it was notified Wednesday that a Moore County resident died from COVID-19 complications. This is the fourth death recorded in the county.

The Moore County Health Department’s online COVID-19 dashboard has the first two deaths recorded on April 6, with the third death recorded on April 13. The health department has not released information on patients who have died to protect privacy.

Currently, there are 88 cases in the county, with 59 females and 29 males testing positive. Forty-five of the cases are patients 65 years or older. 

There is an outbreak at Pinehurst Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center on Blake Boulevard. As of Thursday, they had 45 residents test positive and eight employees.

Statewide, there are 445 people who have recovered from the virus; however, some counties are not reporting numbers. Nationwide, 50,107 people have recovered, and 507,330 have recovered worldwide.
