A new nonprofit organization, Friends of Southern Pines, has officially launched with a mission to strengthen the community through beautification, volunteerism, civic engagement, and strategic community investment.
“When neighbors know each other, communities become safer, stronger, and more resilient. Friends of Southern Pines exists to foster those connections and inspire people to become active stewards of the place they love,” said Ashley Tramontin.
Founded by community advocates who share a passion for Southern Pines, Friends of Southern Pines is dedicated to supporting projects and initiatives that preserve the town’s unique character while enhancing the quality of life for everyone who lives, works, and visits here.
“Our vision is simple: bring people together to make a lasting difference,” said Michael White. “Southern Pines has a remarkable sense of community, and we believe that by connecting volunteers, local businesses, neighborhood leaders, and residents, we can accomplish meaningful projects that benefit our town for generations to come.”
The organization will focus on initiatives that may include:
*Community beautification projects
*Park, trail, and public space improvements
*Neighborhood engagement and volunteer opportunities
*Environmental stewardship
*Educational and civic programs
*Partnerships with local businesses, civic organizations, and government agencies
*Fundraising efforts to support impactful community projects
As the organization begins its work, it invites individuals, families, and businesses who care about the future of Southern Pines to join its growing network of supporters.
“Every community becomes stronger when people invest their time, talents, and resources,” said Kate Shinkwin, current President of Friends of Southern Pines, in a press release. “Whether someone volunteers for a project, sponsors a specific event, or simply spreads the word, every contribution helps make Southern Pines an even better place to call home.”
Friends of Southern Pines is a nonprofit organization committed to enhancing the community through collaboration, service, and responsible stewardship. By bringing together residents, businesses, and local leaders, the organization works to support projects that preserve the town’s charm while creating new opportunities for community connection and improvement.
“We believe the future of Southern Pines will be shaped not only by its rich history or smart & appropriate growth, but by the people who are willing to serve their community today. Friends of Southern Pines exists to inspire that spirit of service, foster meaningful partnerships, and create opportunities for neighbors to connect, give back, and take pride in the place we all call home,” said Rachel Jurgens.
